About This Product

Little millet, called samai in Tamil Nadu and gutki in central India, is one of the lightest and most easily digestible millets available. Farmers in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Chhattisgarh grow it on rain-fed soil using traditional methods as a secondary crop in rotation with pulses. After harvest, the grain is sun-dried on open platforms and stone-milled into a fine cream-colored flour. This flour is pressed into thin sevai strands and slow-dried. No maida is added. The vermicelli is light on the stomach, naturally low in calories, and is a popular choice for fasting-day meals and everyday light breakfasts.

How It's Grown & Processed

Farming Method

Rain-fed cultivation on naturally enriched soil. Secondary crop grown in rotation with pulses. Pure origin. Hand-harvested by small farm families in South and Central India.

Processing Method

Grain harvested and cleaned → sun-dried 4–5 days → stone-milled into fine flour → water mixed → pressed into thin strands → slow-dried at low temperature → graded and packed.
