About This Product

Puffed jowar is made by applying controlled dry heat to clean, sun-dried sorghum grain until it expands and pops open naturally: no oil, no frying, and nothing added. The grain is sourced from rain-fed dryland farms in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh, where jowar has been cultivated for centuries. After harvest and sun-drying, the grain is cleaned, sorted, and then puffed in a hot sand roasting process that uses no fat or liquid at any stage. The result is a light, crispy, naturally expanded grain that retains the bran layer. Widely used in laddoos, chikki, trail mixes, chocolate-coated snack bars, and breakfast cereal blends.

How It's Grown & Processed

Farming Method

Dryland rain-fed farming on black cotton and red soil in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. Drought-tolerant crop. No synthetic fertilisers. One of the lowest water-input grain crops in Indian agriculture.

Processing Method

Jowar grain cleaned and sorted → sun-dried → moisture checked → puffed in hot sand roasting without oil → expanded grain collected and separated from sand → cooled → graded and packed.

Storage Advice

Store in a cool, dry, airtight container. Puffed jowar loses crispiness fast in humidity — seal well immediately after opening and consume within 4 weeks. Do not refrigerate.
