About This Product

Sorghum, called jowar in most parts of India, is one of the oldest dryland crops grown across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. Farmers cultivate it on black cotton and red soil with almost no water input; it is one of the most drought-tolerant grains available. After harvest, the grain is cleaned, sun-dried, and then flaked using a roller process that preserves the bran and germ layers. No frying, no oil, and no artificial coating is used. The flakes are thin, light, and crispy in dry form. They are widely used in breakfast cereals, muesli blends, chivda mixes, and health snack bar formulations.

How It's Grown & Processed

Farming Method

Dryland farming on black cotton and red soil in western and southern India. Extremely low water requirement. No synthetic fertilizers. Grown in rotation with tur dal and groundnut. One of the most earth-friendly grain crops cultivated in India.

Processing Method

Grain cleaned and sorted → sun-dried 4–6 days → moisture checked → roller-flaked to consistent thin flakes → bran layer retained → dried to low moisture → graded by size and packed.

9 months from date of packing

Storage Advice

Store in a cool, dry, airtight container away from moisture and sunlight. Once opened, seal tightly and consume within 2 months. Do not store near strong-smelling spices.
