About This Product

Sorghum, known as jowar, has been a staple grain across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh for centuries. Farmers here grow it in dry, rain-fed fields using traditional methods that need very little water and no synthetic  chemicals. After harvest, the grain is sun-dried and milled into a coarse, creamy-colored flour. This flour is formed into pasta shapes and slow-dried to hold texture during cooking. Jowar pasta holds firm when boiled and pairs well with both Indian-style sauces and light continental preparations. It is a suitable base for gluten-free and wheat-free product formulations.

How It's Grown & Processed

Farming Method

Dryland, rain-fed farming on black cotton or red soil. Extremely low water requirement. No synthetic fertilizers. Grown in rotation with tur dal and groundnut across central and western India.

Processing Method

Grain cleaned and sorted → sun-dried 4–6 days → milled to coarse flour → water mixed → extruded into pasta shapes → slow-dried → packed with moisture protection.
