About This Product

Tomato pickle is a South Indian-style condiment preparation with a strong following in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, where it is made with ripe tomatoes, sesame oil, curry leaves, dried red chillies, mustard seeds, and garlic. Unlike North Indian-style pickles that use raw fruit and long maturation, the tomato achaar is a cooked preparation; the tomatoes are cooked down with the spice base until a thick, jammy consistency is reached. No artificial preservatives, no vinegar, and no synthetic colours are used. Cold-pressed sesame oil is used as the cooking and preservation medium. The pickle has a balance of sharp tomato acidity, heat from the chili, and depth from the sesame oil and tempering spices.
